Biometra

Biometra (part of Analytic Jena) have been manufacturing thermocyclers for over 20 years, with innovation and reliability being the cornerstone to Biometra’s success. Biometra were the first manufacturer to incorporate peltier elements for heating and cooling the block in 1989, before improving both temperature ramping rates and block temperature uniformity with the introduction of the silver block in 1999.

Thermocyclers

The Tprofessional family of thermocylers from Biometra has been inspired by the idea to simplify molecular biology research. Driven by 20-years experience in Thermocycler design and production, the Tprofessional Thermocyclers were developed to set a new unrivalled standard. The instruments combine high end technology, with a functional and elegant design to achieve high block ramping rates, excellent block temperature uniformity and ease of use. The result is three easy to use instruments with excellent technical specifications:

Tprofessional Basic

96-well gold anodised aluminium block, with or without gradient function.

Tprofessional Standard

A choice of 4 High speed silver block options for advanced demands or 384-well block for high through put applications.

Tprofessional

The same features as the Tprofessional standard, additionally equipped with a quick change block exchange system with automatic block recognision. Ideal for laboratories where the workload requires switching between 384-well and 96-well plates, or even 0.5ml tubes.

T3000

Unique to Biometra, the T3000 offers 3 independent blocks within the one instrument and is ideal for labs where sample numbers  per run are low, yet flexibility in sample processing is important. The T3000 provides the ability to run up to 3 different programmes simultaneously.

The three block configurations available are, for 20 x 0.5mL, 48 x 0.2mL and combi block, 48x0.2mL or 18x 0.5mL.

Tpersonal

The Tpersonal, as the name suggest is a compact instrument for the smaller labs. The compact footprint of 22 x 31cm ensure the Tpersonal occupies minimum space on the lab bench. The 3 block options 48 x 0.2mL, 20 x 0.5mL and combi (48 x 0.2mL or 18 x 0.5mL) ensures the Tpersonal will meet all laboratory requirements.
Equipped with Biometra High performance Smart Lid and engineering, the Tpersonal meet all requirements for speed, temperature uniformity and flexibility.
 

Electrophoresis

Biometra offer a comprehensive range of instruments for electrophoresis, including the new Compact series (consisting of 5 gels sizes) characterised by straight design, robust construction and long life components for submerged agarose separation of DNA. The Compact instruments all feature the patented ‘place & cast’ casting tanks make for leak-free gel casting in a matter seconds.

The Compact instrumentation is complimented by the well established Horizon Family of electrophoresis instrumentation. Biometra’s BioDoc Analyze image acquisition and analysis software is the core to the BDA gel documentation systems. The software features:
- image acquisition can camera controls
- Automatic lane and band recognition
- Optimization of detection parameters
- Background adjustment
