MagnaMedics Diagnostic BV (founded in 2003) is primarily focused on the development of state of the art magnetic bead separation products, based on MagnaMedics own IP for developing and producing nanoparticles containing a magnetic core.

In conjunction with the extensive range of ‘off the shelf’ products, MagnaMedics also provide party specific “tailor made” solutions through their customized service. With flexible solutions to nanoparticle issues like: size (300nm to 50um), matrix selection, encapsulation of specific compounds (eg drugs, luminescence) and surface functionality, MagnaMedics offers project partners quick insight in to feasible solutions for any issue relating to the use of magnetic beads. MagnaMedics Diagnostics BV has an established name in the IVD market with a strong focus on QC-QA for production, validation and up-scaling of (custom) products.

MagnaMedics Beads are manufactured from silica, impregnated with iron oxide to a magnetism of 40emu/g for quick sedimentation when a magnetic force is applied. Available through the “Customised Service” is infusion of the silica core with dyes, both fluorescence and luminescence or Quantum Dots. The surface can be coated with a wide range of compounds for the isolation, purification and detection of compounds of interest.

MagnaMedics magnetic beads are generally available with the option of either 1.0um or 600nm diameter beads, with the 600nm provide maximum surface area and remaining in suspension without the requirement for shaking. Thus are ideal for long incubation procedures and when a large surface area is a requirement.

MagnaMedics beads for DNA isolation (MagSi-DNA and MagSi-DNA-COOH beads) are available as either 1.2um and a 300nm diameter bead with a high molecular weight core( 4.6kg/l ). Thus providing bead with large surface area (13.04m2/ml) and rapid sedimentation (less than 5sec), which has been optimized for the requirements of robotic isolation protocols.
